What a terrific year it's been for juniors in tennis, and what a joy the journey has been to see them grow! Not only has their on-court game gotten stronger, but they've also grown in character by showing kindness, giving encouragement, growing in patience, expressing gratitude, making good decisions and exhibiting true sportsmanship. The tennis experience can shape an individual - at any age - in so many positive ways. I am grateful to have been a part of these kids' lives for the past four and a half years!
Our association would like to welcome Coach Kent Smith to the Memphis Tennis Association team! Going forward, Coach Kent will be coordinating USTA Junior Team Tennis in Memphis and expanding opportunities for students via tennis in PE programs and after-school programs for the next generation via Net Generation. Coach Kent brings with him much expertise, experience, dedication and passion, and we are all excited about the growth of youth tennis in Memphis!
I look forward to continuing our work together as a community to promote and share opportunities about local area programs!
Hi, like you, I'm a supporter of tennis. I'm invested in it. I believe in its positive impact. I've experienced its benefits on-court and off-court firsthand. I personally began playing regularly at the "ripe" young age of 40. As a kid, I'd hit against the wall of our house from the driveway (doing my best to avoid my mother's kitchen sink window). I'd watched my mother have great fun on the courts with her friends. Fast forward now to my own child playing - what a joy and blessing it is to share in her journey and the journey of so many of our community's youth. It's what it's all about...FUN, LEARNING, GROWING, SHARING & SERVING. More to come about the journey of LOVE ALL.
