October 25, 2016 Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland officially proclaimed the tournament week of February 11-19, 2017 as Tennis Week in Memphis.
Said Strickland, "For 41 years, this tournament has meant more to our city's reputation than people can ever quantify. Now more than ever, the Memphis Open is engaged with our community and is providing unique opportunities for our young people. It is high time that week is officially designated as Tennis Week in Memphis." Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee was proud to be the corporate sponsor of the 2017 Memphis Open All Stars Field Trips! In partnership with the tournament and USTA Tennessee, not only did each child who attended get their own racket to keep, but the schools earning a field trip spot received a permanent tennis equipment kit for their school!
